They Call Him Jesus

He gave up His riches to become poor
And came to earth to cleanse and make pure
He fulfilled the scriptures as was told
To seek the lost sinner saving His soul-

He went all through the country and towns
Preaching and healing as He went around
Some thought He would be their new king
But the pharisees thought only trouble He'd bring-

They call Him Jesus, they call Him Jesus
Peace and love He will bring
They call Him Jesus, they call Him Jesus
He'll take out death's mighty sting-

He brought a message of peace and love
The scribes didn't want His wisdom from above
He was brought up with charges by His own
They didn't want anyone to sat on their throne-

He was tortured, whipped, and nailed to a cross
Giving up His life to save all the lost
What king of man would do this for us
There is only one, they call Him Jesus-
